Who we are:the experts in fatty acid analysis

We are Omegametrix®, the experts in fatty acid analysis and the developers of the Omegametrix Method, the HS-Omega-3 Index®, and the HS-Trans Index® – the world’s leading and accessible-to-all fatty acid analysis indices. With the standardization of fatty acid analysis, we are laying the foundation for scientifically sound, meaningful data on the 26 most important fatty acids in the body and gaining valuable insights into their composition.

Because we know: healthy cells have a positive effect on overall health. If you strengthen cell quality, you increase positive effects in the body – and fatty acids have a fundamental influence on cell quality. Our Omegametrix Method enables health-relevant improvements for a greater and longer quality of life.

What we are: The Omegametrix Method

The Omegametrix Method was first published in 2004 and is the world’s first and leading strictly standardized method for the analysis of fatty acids. It captures over 99% of the essential fatty acids in red blood cells, thereby covering 26 fatty acids. Other methods give other results and frequently report fewer fatty acids and therefore provide a wrong and incomplete picture.

The fatty acid composition of erythrocytes varies little from day to day (low biological variability, 1.3 %). A low analytical variability, such as that of our method, combined with a low biological variability, results in an excellent signal-to-noise ratio – important for every measurement.

More than 430 publications in international scientific journals are based on our Omegametrix Method and around 50 research projects are underway (as of December 2024) – all working to create the largest possible scientific database.

The Method

Who we are: The Omegametrix Laboratory

The Omegametrix laboratory was founded in Munich in 2007 to make the Omegametrix Method accessible worldwide. While in the early years it was mainly scientific projects that received analytical support, Omegametrix has also been working with doctors, prevention centers, nutritionists, and other medical professionals for years. Omegametrix also serves companies and specialists with an interest in fatty acid analysis and cooperates with research departments such as the Karolinska Insitut, Charité Berlin, Munich universities, and many other universities around the world and international companies and laboratories.

Our Omegametrix laboratory is characterized by strict standardization and quality control. This is vital, since the results of fatty acid analysis depend on numerous sensitive factors, such as the geometry of the reaction vessels or the evaluation method of the chromatograms. Our strict quality management covers all the requirements of clinical chemistry for the analytical procedures as well as the specific protocols used for standardized fatty acid analysis. Quality management involves the use of control samples, plausibility checks, suitable standards, standardized evaluation procedures, and much more. Our quality management has been formalized in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15189 right from the start. In the first quarter of 2024, we also achieved accreditation by the DAkkS.
